Real Software, Inc. Changes Name to “Xojo, Inc.”

Adopts new name to secure unique identity; Change effective immediately

AUSTIN, TX, USA (June 4, 2013) -- Real Software, Inc. a leading provider of cross-platform software development tools announced today that it will change its corporate name from Real Software, Inc. to Xojo, Inc. and the product name will change from Real Studio to Xojo.

Xojo is a cross-platform software development tool that enables developers of all backgrounds to create software for OS X, Windows, Linux, the web, and soon, mobile. With users all over the world, Xojo apps can be found in every conceivable category - from commercial software applications to use in governments, universities, businesses, and the Fortune 500. Secondary-level and college students in schools all over the world are introduced to programming with Xojo.

Xojo, Inc. will continue to offer innovative cross-platform development tools with the goal of enabling ordinary people to create extraordinary apps. To compliment this goal, Xojo will now be free to use for learning and development. Developers can use the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for free, and will only need to purchase a license once they want to build a distributable version of their application. Licenses are purchased per target platform, including Web, Desktop, Database, Console, and Xojo Pro, which is a bundle license that includes all deployment licenses plus an added support plan and more.

“We are very excited to announce our new company and product name,” commented Geoff Perlman, Xojo’s Founder and CEO. “Xojo doesn’t represent a change in our strategy, but it better defines the innovative, customer-focused company we are. Over the past 17 years, our organization has built a reputation for providing a quality and powerful development tool that creates native executables for each target platform. We will continue to build upon this strategy for years to come as we will be launching iOS support later this year and will be expanding to other mobile platforms in the future.”

Perlman further explained that the new name reflects the evolving focus on cross-platform, adding, “Our new name, Xojo, is an acronym based upon the concept of x-platform [or cross-platform] object orientation. We wanted a name that was unique enough that we could totally ‘own’, but also still had ties to object-oriented programming.”

"Xojo is a great name for the product and will make for a strong brand. It is an incredibly useful tool- particularly for native, cross-platform development- and will be even more popular once mobile support is introduced," offered Travis Hill, a longtime user and technology entrepreneur. "I have been using the product for more than a decade to help develop multiple lines of business, and have been impressed with the company and its direction. This new identity and freely available IDE will enable them to introduce Xojo to thousands of new developers."

Along with the name change, the company adopted a new corporate identity, including a new logo and visual identity, and a new website that can be found at www.xojo.com. The changes are effective immediately, and all future business activity will be undertaken with the new name.
